Japan’s National Consumer Price Index (CPI) climbed 2.9% year-on-year (YoY) in November. This is compared to the previous reading of 2.3%, as per the data released by the Japan Statistics Bureau on Friday.
Ex Fresh Food CPI
The National CPI ex Fresh food reached 2.7% YoY in November. This is in contrast to the prior reading of 2.3% and was above the market consensus of 2.6%.
Ex Fresh Food, Energy CPI
CPI ex Fresh Food, Energy also rose 2.7% YoY in November. It was up from the previous reading of a 2.3% rise.
Market Reaction
Following Japan’s CPI inflation data, the USD/JPY pair has gone up 0.12% on the day and is currently at 157.52.
