Investors Await Key Speech from Prime Minister Keir Starmer
The FTSE 100 and other European stocks showed mixed performance on Monday as investors focused on an upcoming speech by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the first International Investment Summit. Starmer is expected to announce plans to reduce regulatory hurdles to boost investment in the UK.
In his keynote address, Starmer is anticipated to emphasize his commitment to fostering growth by eliminating unnecessary regulations that hinder investment.
As trading began, London’s benchmark index fell by 0.2%.
Meanwhile, Germany’s DAX rose by 0.5%, while France’s CAC index slipped 0.3%. The pan-European STOXX 600 index gained 0.3%.
Wall Street Set for Flat Opening
Across the Atlantic, Wall Street is expected to open flat, with S&P 500 futures, Dow futures, and Nasdaq futures showing no change.
The British pound remained stable against the US dollar, trading at 1.3063.
Upcoming Earnings Reports
Key companies set to report their earnings this week include Netflix, Goldman Sachs, and Bank of America in the U.S. In Europe, major firms like LVMH, ASML, and Rio Tinto will also release their financial results.
