The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) and various insurers are reaffirming their commitment to assisting residents in south-east Queensland who were severely affected by last December’s and January’s storms. This commitment is reflected in the upcoming fourth round of community consultations aimed at helping those still grappling with the aftermath of the weather damage.

Details of the Upcoming Consultations

Insurers will hold consultations in Upper Coomera, Jimboomba, and Tamborine, providing an opportunity for residents to discuss their claims and address any unresolved issues.

Upper Coomera: Wednesday, 11 September, 9am to 5pm at The Well Community Centre, 58 Highland Way.

Jimboomba: Thursday, 12 September, 9am to 5pm at Jimboomba Community and District Hall, Johanna Street and Honora Street.

Tamborine: Friday, 13 September, 8am to 3pm at Vonda Youngman Centre, 2-3 Knoll Road, Tamborine Mountain.

Residents are encouraged to book their consultations in advance at www.insurancecouncil.com.au/bookings.

Significant Impact of the Storms

The severe storms have led to over 100,000 claims, amounting to a total of $1.3 billion. The consultations aim to provide direct support and facilitate the resolution of ongoing claims for those affected.

Statement from ICA CEO Andrew Hall

Andrew Hall, CEO of the Insurance Council of Australia, emphasized the resilience of the impacted communities and the importance of continued support. He stated:

“The communities who were impacted by the severe weather event in south-east Queensland have shown their resilience in the face of the challenges thrown at them at the end of last year. It is important that we continue to provide households and businesses the support they need to move forward. The community consultations are one way customers are able to finalize claims through face-to-face engagement, and we look forward to being back in impacted communities again.”

This round of consultations is part of the ongoing effort to assist storm-affected residents and ensure they receive the support necessary to recover fully from the severe weather events.
