On Sunday, Mimany topped the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) daily sales chart, achieving $741,214 in sales as the cryptocurrency market capitalization fell below $2 trillion for the first time since February.
Mimany, a collection based on the Solana network, led the NFT sales, reflecting strong performance despite a broader market downturn. However, Solana’s native cryptocurrency, SOL, experienced a significant decline, shedding about 30% of its value over the past week. Bitcoin also fell below $50,000 for the first time since February, trading at $54,363 as of 11:30 a.m. ET on Monday, according to CoinGecko data.
This crypto market sell-off is occurring in tandem with a historic stock market crash in Japan. The Nikkei 225 Index plummeted by 12.4%, marking the largest single-day points loss ever with a drop of 4,451.28 points.
On the Ethereum network, Pudgy Penguins ranked as the second-highest NFT collection for the day, generating $642,585 in sales. Ethereum’s native cryptocurrency, Ether, was also significantly impacted, losing around 20% of its value amid the broader market decline.
Recent blockchain data indicates that Jump Trading, a proprietary trading firm, has recently divested its Ether and staked Ether holdings, with notable transactions occurring over the weekend. This move has led some industry observers to speculate that Jump Trading might be shutting down its crypto division in response to regulatory pressures.
Milady Maker, also on the Ethereum blockchain, secured the third spot in the NFT sales ranking with $508,647 in daily sales.
Other significant NFT collections included CryptoPunks and DogeZuki Collection. CryptoPunks, a pioneering Ethereum-based NFT project, achieved $364,400 in sales with just five transactions. Meanwhile, Solana’s DogeZuki Collection saw a high transaction volume, with 8,407 trades and daily sales of $358,730.
