Indian stock markets showed robust performance on Monday, July 15, 2024, with the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 both trading positively. The BSE Sensex rose by more than 200 points, marking a gain of 0.28%, and was quoted at 80,750. During intraday trading, the NSE Nifty50 reached a milestone, achieving a record high of 24,611 and crossing the 24,600-mark for the first time.
Leading the gains on the Sensex were stocks such as HCL Tech, NTPC, SBI, Ultratech Cement, ITC, Tata Motors, TCS, Maruti Suzuki, M&M, and Sun Pharma, all recording gains of up to 1.8%.
In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap index increased by 0.69%, while the BSE SmallCap index edged up by 0.21%.
Sector-wise, the Nifty Pharma and PSU Bank indices saw the most significant gains, each advancing over 1%. They were followed by the Nifty IT and FMCG sectors, which rose by 0.5% each.
