Swedish investment firm EQT (EQTAB.ST) announced on Wednesday that it intends to raise $12.5 billion for its latest Asia-focused fund. This new fund will be managed by EQT Private Capital Asia, which was established in October 2022 following EQT’s acquisition of Baring Private Equity Asia for $6.7 billion.
The new fund, named BPEA Private Equity Fund IX, will follow an investment strategy that is “materially in line” with the previous $11.2 billion fund launched in September 2022, according to EQT’s statement.
EQT noted that the final size of the fund will depend on the success of the fundraising efforts.
